Serena opened her eyes, wincing as she stretched her aching body against the rumpled bedding. Moaning, she began to run her hands down her body, causing a flashback of another’s hands moving over her, leaving in its wake more pleasure than she’d ever known. The distant memory of Connor’s possession renewed her hunger, and she knew she had to get out of there fast.

The mild confusion that came with waking in a strange place was gradually replaced with bits and pieces of realization until the puzzle was complete. Serena got up, bringing the sheet around her body. Her gaze landed on the brownish spots staining the bottom sheet. She looked away, recalling how eager and willing she’d been in Connor’s arms, how brazenly she’d given him her virginity. Well, it had been bound to happen sometime.

Bright sunlight streamed through the open windows, as well as a cool breeze that carried the alluring scent of fresh pine and springtime. She went to the window and inhaled deeply, filling her lungs with the crisp freshness of mountain air.

“Good, you’re up.”

She swung from the window with a start. Connor was standing in the doorway, dressed in faded jeans and a brown pullover sweater with the sleeves pushed up to his elbows. As Serena let her gaze move over him, she took note of the defined power in his forearms and hands. His hair was damp, indicating he’d probably just come from taking a shower.

“Where am I?” she asked, clutching the sheet over her breasts.

“You’re at the Savage Hills Wolf Sanctuary,” he replied. “We offer protection and medical treatment to the wolves in the area.”

Her eyes widened. The very place she’d been heading! “I was on my way here, for a job.” As a wildlife veterinarian, Serena had jumped at the opportunity to work in a heavily populated area of wolves, bears, and mountain lions. Even though the Savage Hills Wolf Sanctuary mainly took care of wolves, she knew her expertise with other wildlife would come in handy, too.

“I know.” His gaze moved over Serena, in a way that had her wondering if he could see right through the sheet covering her. She fought down the instant awareness warming her blood. “I have to go out for a while. Max will be here to keep you company. Grab a shower if you like, your suitcase is there.”

Serena’s gaze followed his, noticing the suitcase tucked away in the corner. “How—“

“I had your car towed down the mountain, to the mechanic’s garage. We’ll talk when I return.”

He turned and left before Serena could say anything. “Wait a minute!” She hurried after him, surprised to see he’d already made it to the front door by the time she’d exited the bedroom.

“Don’t come any closer, Serena.” His harsh tone caused her to halt with surprise. “Unless you want to spend the rest of the day on your back, beneath me.” His nostrils flared and his mouth was tight. It was clear that he was in some kind of state and trying to remain calm and in control.

Serena caught her breath, but instead of fear his threat caused a rush of desire in her blood. She was sure that’s not what he’d intended, but remembering his caresses made her nipples stiffen and created a warm throb in her lower body.

Connor’s gaze narrowed as if he sensed the changes in her body. “I’ll be back.”

Before Serena knew it Connor was gone, slamming the door behind him. She released a breath of relief, willing her body under control.

She decided to take Connor up on the shower, and then she’d call a cab and get the heck out of there.

Forbidden Folk: A Polyamorous Romance Novelette

Forbidden Folk
A Polyamorous Romance Novelette
by Giselle Renarde

When Winter Green’s estranged mother dies, the two remaining members of her folk trio plead with Winter to come on tour. No way! Winter grew up on a tour bus. She’s got a different life now. She can’t go back.

She can never go back.

But Steven and Virginia hold one secret nobody else knows: the true identity of Winter’s mysterious father. Will her desire to meet him be enough to bring her back to the folk music fold? Or will it take forbidden love for her late mother’s bandmates to convince Winter to return to the life she fled at fifteen?

An erotic novelette from award-winning author Giselle Renarde.

Excerpt:

“Steven?” I asked.

His hand still cocooned mine. “Yes, Winter?”

“Did you ever think about…?”

He turned onto his side, so his chest was so close it grazed my tender nipples. When he spoke, I felt his breath against my lips. “Think about what, Winter?”

I couldn’t ignore the throb between my legs. I couldn’t fight it any longer. I barely had to move to kiss him, and that’s just what I did. Or did he kiss me? We moved for each other’s mouths simultaneously, opening to one another. His tongue swept mine into a frenzy as we gave in to the desire my mother had forbidden.

She must be spinning in her grave.

Burlesque Beauties: Lesbian Historical Romance

Orchid lives in a small cabin behind Madame Mireille's big burlesque house. There's barely room enough for herself, let alone her growing daughter. Ginger is in a similar situation, living with her young son Roger on Madame's seaside estate. It's been more than a year since Orchid has worked, and she's sincerely indebted to Madame, but she can't live in such cramped quarters much longer.

When Madame Mireille takes the children for a car trip, Orchid catches a saucy burlesque performance… but the sight of her lover Petra dancing for all those leering "jerks" and holidaymakers makes her jealous beyond belief. Perhaps Petra will join her by the seaside to remind her there are certain things the burlesque beauties only do for each other?

But what about Orchid and Ginger's housing situation? They can't bring themselves to ask Madame for more space. Can precious Petra find a solution?

Excerpt:

“What’s the special occasion?” Orchid asked.

“No special occasion,” Madame replied as she snuck up on young Roger. Tickling the child, she said, “I just thought this little monster might like an iced cream from his Auntie Mireille!”

Roger squealed, hopping from Orchid’s lap into Madame’s arms, hugging her tight around the neck as she kissed his winsome head.

“Who will take care of the front if you’re gone?” Orchid asked. “And the money side?” Setting Roger down, Mireille took Annabel from Ginger. “Sally’s got a handle on the money and such, though perhaps you could give her a hand at the start. In truth, Orchid, I need you to watch the show once or twice before you start performing again. We’ve made a few changes since you last took to the stage, and I want you up to speed.”

Orchid hesitated. Annabel was sleeping now, and Ginger fixing her basket for travel. The kids did love going out in that Pontiac Pathfinder Deluxe. Madame had bought it on a trip to Montreal, and driven all the way home to the Maritimes. Orchid couldn’t imagine the sea air did that motor any favours, though. She worried it would conk out in the middle of nowhere, but the trips always soothed Annabel, and she couldn’t bear to deny her child anything of this world. Bad enough her little girl was growing up without a father.

“Thank you,” she said to Madame, kissing her baby’s bonnet before Mireille made off with the little ones. With a heaving sigh, Orchid turned to Ginger and shrugged.

“It’s nice of her and all, but every time Annabel’s out of my sight I feel as though a piece of me were missing.”

“I know the feeling all too well.” Ginger took on a wicked grin and approached Orchid slowly, deliberately. Her eyes were so dark with desire there was no question what she had in mind. “It’s certainly been a while since we were alone together—no tykes, just…”

“Yes, indeed,” Orchid agreed with a nervous chuckle. She backed up against the door of her one-room cottage, glancing quickly at the clock. “Oh, what a shame! It’s time for you to get ready for your matinee.”

Ginger loomed large, licking her lips like she could devour Orchid in one gulp. Her breath was so heavy, so laboured, that Orchid felt dizzied just standing there against the door. A year ago, she’d have jumped at any opportunity for Sapphic pleasure, but that was before she’d encountered Petra. Everything was different now.
