Blurb:

After being turned down for an interstellar mission, Gelsey ends up going anyway when she is abducted by an alien.

CHOSEN AS MATE FOR A POWERFUL ALIEN WARRIOR

Aspiring astrophysicist Gelsey Dewitt is having a very bad day. First her professor dumps her in the middle of a seduction. Then, after a communication from another star system is received and translated by NASA, most of her student group is chosen to accept the invitation and will journey to an alien planet... but, alas, not her. As if that isn’t enough to ruin her day, then she is pursued by a persistent body-builder type of guy, Zaccheus, who doesn’t take “no” for an answer. When he offers to show her his secretive home, she inadvertently says “yes”. Then next thing Gelsey knows is that she wakes up as prisoner in a very strange place--a place with futuristic furniture, blue-tinged food, identical male quadruplets who think her feet are tiny, and broad, powerful Zaccheus who seems to have the hots for her. Where on God’s good Earth is she?

REFUSED AS MATE BY A PUNY TERRAN FEMALE

Proud Brhite Warrior, Zaccheus of the Fortis Gladius clan, a member of the Entitled ones on his planet, Brhin Primus, desires to become a Leader for his people. In order to accomplish his goal, he learns he must choose as mate a female from an inferior world, Terra. At first repulsed by the idea, he then vows to do what must be done since this female is foretold to become a savior for his suffering world. He travels to the lowly Terran planet and, as soon as he spots Gelsey, he knows she is the one. He does her the very greatest honor of selecting her for the Treaty of Union, but she... she has the audacity to refuse him, to reject him. How is Zaccheus supposed to become a Leader for his people and save Brhin Primus if Gelsey will not become his chosen mate?

Scene Set-Up:

Aspiring astrophysicist Gelsey Dewitt naps on a Hawaiian beach after her class. She wakes up to an odd feeling of being watched and then notices the body-builder man from yesterday who had stared at her without restrain. He walks into the bay water and then suddenly disappears. Worried, she swims out to rescue him.

EXCERPT

Under the shade of the hotel’s blue beach umbrella, Gelsey sprawled out on her huge beach towel. Half in and half out of the bright sunshine, she then napped intermittently.

This really was the life: snuggling on top of golden sands, basking in the warm glow of the sun, and catching up on her sleep.

She turned to lay on her back, closed her eyes, and allowed the healing sensations of sunshine rays to burn into her bikinied body.

One of the blessings of this beautiful resort was that she had complete privacy here, if she so desired. No one, not the hotel guests nor staff would... to crudely phrase it, “hit” on her in her scarcely dressed state.

The beach wasn’t crowded; it never was, but murmurs from some nearby sun worshipers traveled on the gentle breezes. The sounds grew fainter and fainter.

With a slight smile on her lips, Gelsey succumbed to the lure of sleep.

A dream intruded on her bliss. A nightmare, really. She felt a presence; someone staring down at her, raking his gaze over her bikini top and triangle bottom.

Her skin actually tingled. The tiny hairs at the nape of her neck stood on end.

“No,” she heard herself moan. She turned her head, which then caused her loose hair to fall across her face.

Maybe that sensation woke her up because the next second, she rolled up to a sitting position.

“Omigosh, that had been intense,” she murmured.

Gelsey rested her arms on top of her bent knees and scanned the waters. A rumble in her tummy reminded her that lunchtime was close, and then...

Then she saw him; she saw the mystery guy from yesterday. The one who had stared so hard, she’d felt the impact of his gaze. Wearing navy blue baggy swim trunks, he had his large, bare back and shoulders to her as he walked slowly, purposefully away from the shore and into the bay. Deeper and deeper. Perhaps he was headed for the coral reef?

The warm, turquoise waters eventually reached his shoulder blades, and as she watched, now up to his thick neck.

Why wasn’t he swimming? Why--

Oh good gosh! He disappeared from sight by sinking below the tropical waters!

Gelsey stared at the spot where he’d vanished. And then she widened her scope. Nothing. She saw nothing. That man was nowhere to be found.

She got to her feet. Not only didn’t she spot this man in the water, but no one on the beach was looking in that particular direction. No one noticed that he was gone.

It was up to her to rescue him.

Running in the direction she’d last seen him, she then hurriedly splashed into the refreshing waters. As soon as she was able, she used brisk strokes to swim to his last position.

She dove down, spinning around to peer through the crystal blue expanse of the bay, but nothing but sand and rocks greeted her.

Where was he?

Coming up for air, she filled her lungs and then dove down again. Squinting her eyes, she did a 360 and then... yes! There he was, a few feet in front of her, just hanging in the water like a limp rag doll. His eyes were closed and air bubbles floated up by his stern, dark head.

No time to lose! She curved her arm around his bulldog neck and with him nestled in the crook of her elbow, she pulled him up, heading for the surface.

Oh no! What? He fought her! He grabbed her forearm, yanked her away from his neck, and continued to hold her arm as if she had no strength at all.

For the briefest of seconds, she stared into his penetrating, dark eyes. Inhuman eyes. Then, without meaning to, she lost her supply of air!
